Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate Sport and Physical Activity

The Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate is a 2-year course designed to build on students’ experience at KS4, whether they have completed GCSE or Cambridge National. It combines theoretical content with practical assessments, providing students with the opportunity to increase their knowledge and understanding of Sport and Physical Activity, as well as the factors that impact performance and participation. In addition to the theoretical elements, students will have the chance to demonstrate their abilities as performers, coaches, or officials.

This qualification is assessed through both examinations and coursework over the two years, allowing students the time to develop and display a variety of skills.

 

The subjects studied in this course will be invaluable at a personal level and will enhance sports performance, regardless of the individual's standard. This qualification opens up several career options, such as a sport scientist, physiotherapist, exercise or fitness trainer, roles in the active leisure industry, or positions within national governing bodies. Additionally, it facilitates entry into university courses like Sport Science.

This course complements other advanced level courses, such as psychology, applied science, and biology. It has been designed by both university lecturers and teachers to develop the skills, understanding, and knowledge sought by many employers across various industries, particularly in the sporting sectors.
